NDLAMBE MUNICIPALITY COVID-19 JOINT OPERATIONS COMMITTEE<\/strong><\/p>\n

Containing the spread of the virus:\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 <\/strong>Reported daily cases of Corona Virus are increasing in Ndlambe.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 An urgent appeal is made to guard against a second wave by maintaining social distancing, wearing of masks and washing \/ sanitising our hands.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Ward based rapid response teams have been set up to track and trace new cases.\u00a0\u00a0 There is concern that residents are not adhering to protocols and this will inevitably lead to increased infection rates.<\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n

Health:\u00a0 \u00a0\u00a0<\/strong>To date 52,107 screenings have taken place in Ndlambe, with 1098 positive cases.\u00a0\u00a0 We currently have 35 active cases.\u00a0\u00a0 Ndlambe has recorded 1031 recoveries and sadly, 32 deaths.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 The Marjorie Parish Hospital Covid ward is due to be handed over on 10 November 2020.<\/p>\n

Water Supply:\u00a0\u00a0 D<\/strong>am levels in Port Alfred and Bathurst continue to decline in the face of prolonged drought.\u00a0\u00a0 Strict water restrictions are in place and water shedding has been implemented in Port Alfred.\u00a0\u00a0 At present the Sarel Hayward Dam is at 5% capacity and the Golden Ridge Dam in Bathurst at 25%.\u00a0\u00a0 Alternate water sources at the East Bank Dune pumps and central boreholes are presently supplementing water supply to Port Alfred.\u00a0 At present no water is flowing over the Kowie River weir, however, provision has been made for a pipeline to draw water from the Weir directly to the balancing dam and water treatment plant, enabling the town to take immediate advantage in the event of rainfall.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 The tender for the proposed new 2Ml Reverse Osmosis plant closed on 26th<\/sup> October, and bids are currently being evaluated.<\/p>\n

Events and gatherings:\u00a0 <\/strong>A full events calendar for the festive period has not yet been released, as Level 1 Covid restrictions impact on gatherings.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 It is expected to release an events calendar mid November.<\/p>\n
